Immediately before this, Lord Ganesha enters into a meditative state symbolized by the visarjana of his deity form in a water body.

The shradh period for feeding and propitiating the ancestors commences immediately after that.

Lord Ganesha is the master of the ‘ganas’–tribes of humans. He is described as the gatekeeper of the destiny chakra of living entities, and is invoked before any undertaking for good fortune. This was a special boon given to him by Lord Vishnu.

At the end of shraadh

At the end of shraadh period (a 15 day lunar period in September-October , the auspicious Navratri period starts.

During Navratri, the female principle of the universe in the form of the Nav Durga Devis (9 aspects of Devi), appear so as to specially bless the inhabitants of the world.
